Have you ever noticed how pain seems to creep up on you?
One day your neck feels a little tight… then your shoulders ache… and before you know it, you’re living with constant stiffness or headaches that seem to come from nowhere.
The truth is, pain rarely comes out of the blue.
It builds — quietly — through your daily habits.
As a Massage Therapist and Energy Healer with over 40 years of experience, I’ve seen the same patterns again and again. Clients arrive convinced something’s “wrong” with their neck, back, or shoulders — but what’s really wrong is how their body has been trained to move, sit, stand, or even sleep.
The good news? Once you identify those hidden habits, you can start feeling better almost immediately.
If you spend your day at a computer, take a look at your setup.
Are you leaning forward toward the screen? Hunching your shoulders? Resting your chin in your hand?
Even small posture imbalances repeated for hours can strain the neck and upper back muscles.
Quick Fix:
Bring your monitor to eye level, keep both feet flat on the floor, and gently roll your shoulders back. (Your spine will thank you!)
The “tech neck” epidemic is real. Looking down at your phone for hours every day can put 40–60 pounds of pressure on your cervical spine.
Quick Fix:
Hold your phone at eye level instead of dropping your head. Try it for one day — you’ll feel the difference.
Long commutes or frequent driving can cause subtle misalignments, especially if you lean on the armrest or twist to one side.
Quick Fix:
Sit fully upright with both hands on the wheel, and avoid leaning to one side. When getting out of your car, bring both legs out together instead of twisting your torso.
That purse, laptop bag, or backpack might be causing more harm than you realize — especially if you always carry it on the same shoulder.
Quick Fix:
Switch sides often, or better yet, use a crossbody bag or backpack with both straps to distribute weight evenly.
Sleeping with your arm under your head may feel cozy, but it compresses nerves and can lead to numbness or shoulder pain.
Quick Fix:
Use a pillow with a dip in the center to support the curve of your neck, and keep your arms in front of your body rather than under your head.
You don’t have to live with neck or back pain.
These simple adjustments can bring powerful results — and I’ve gathered the most common (and most easily corrected) ones in my free guide:
